The Bangladesh Physical Society has elected a new executive board for the 2026–2027 term, with the vote held on Saturday at Mokaram Bhaban of the University of Dhaka.

The newly formed committee brings together academics and scientists from leading universities and research institutions across the country.

Former University of Dhaka Vice-Chancellor and Emeritus Professor A F M Yusuf Haider has been appointed president of the board.

University of Rajshahi Department of Physics Professor F Nazrul Islam and Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology Department of Physics Professor AKM Akhter Hossain have been elected as vice-presidents.

Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission Chief Scientific Officer Md Nazrul Islam Khan will serve as treasurer, while Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology Department of Physics Professor Mohammad Jellur Rahman has been elected general secretary.

Bangladesh University of Textiles Murad Ahmed and Primeasia University Abu Zafar Ziauddin Ahmed have been elected joint general secretary and information and publication secretary respectively.

The executive board also includes members from a range of institutions.

They are Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission ex-officio member Mohammad Shawkat Akbar, University of Rajshahi Saleh Hasan Naqib, Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology Md Kamal-Al-Hasan, University of Dhaka Aminul Islam Talukdar, University of Dhaka Md Mizanur Rahman, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology Nazia Chawdhury, Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology Md Mohi Uddin, National Curriculum and Textbook Board Mohammad Kamrul Haque Bhuiyan, Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission Mohammad Amirul Islam, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology Md Khurshed Alam, Jagannath University Md Kutub Uddin, University of Barishal Md Khorshed Alam, Bangladesh Council of Scientific and Industrial Research Syed Farid Uddin Farhad and American International University-Bangladesh Shovan Kumar Kundu.

The committee is expected to work collectively to advance physics research and education in Bangladesh.
