Bangladesh participated in the “Malacca International Halal Festival” for the second consecutive year in Malaysia, held from October 16-19 at the Melaka International Trade Center (MITC) in the historic Malacca province.
The festival featured 400 booths across nine clusters, showcasing food and beverages, halal fashion, halal tourism, and more, with countries like Bangladesh, Korea, Vietnam, Thailand, China, Indonesia, Iran, Taiwan, and Malaysia taking part, according to a press statement by the Bangladesh High Commission in Malaysia.
Organized by the Malacca State Government and the Melaka Islamic Religion Council (MAIM), the event was inaugurated on October 18, 2025, by the Chief Minister of Malacca YAB Datuk Seri Utama Ab Rauf bin Yusoh, with Bangladesh’s High Commissioner to Malaysia Md Manjurul Karim Khan Chowdhury attending the ceremony.
At the event, Bangladesh showcased its “Pran” brand in a booth supported by the Bangladesh High Commission in Kuala Lumpur, displaying a range of food and beverage products.
After the opening ceremony, the Chief Minister and other dignitaries visited the Bangladesh booth, where the High Commissioner and his spouse welcomed them and informed them about Bangladesh’s exportable products, including ready-made garments, jute products, ceramics, pharmaceuticals, leather goods, plastic items, food, and beverages.
The High Commissioner expressed hope for increased participation from Bangladeshi companies in future editions of the festival and sought the Chief Minister’s support for expanding halal trade.
On the final day, the organizers presented Bangladesh’s High Commission with a certificate of appreciation for its successful participation.
With growing demand for Bangladeshi products in Malaysia, the High Commission is actively working to expand Bangladesh’s market presence, not only in Kuala Lumpur but also in other key provinces through continued participation in trade fairs.
The High Commission has participated in four international trade fairs in 2025 to promote Bangladeshi products and services in the ASEAN region, while also distributing information about the upcoming Global Sourcing Expo 2025 in Dhaka.
A significant number of businessmen, distributors, and visitors showed strong interest in Bangladeshi products during the festival.
