Bangladesh and the Maldives have pledged to deepen their longstanding bilateral ties and expand cooperation in multilateral affairs, education, and people‑to‑people exchanges.
The commitment came as Bangladesh’s Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman met Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu at the President’s Office in Malé on Saturday evening.
Muizzu welcomed Khalilur and thanked him for visiting the Maldives as a special guest at the celebrations marking the country’s 61st Independence Day.
During the meeting, both sides discussed ways to strengthen cooperation, highlighting the friendship between the two countries and their shared interests.
Khalilur is visiting the Maldives from July 25 to 27 to attend the Independence Day celebrations. He arrived on Saturday and was received by Maldivian Foreign Minister Iruthisham Adam and senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
