Bangladesh’s men closed their SAFF Futsal Championship campaign with a 4-1 loss to Nepal on Saturday at Nonthaburi Stadium in Thailand, conceding ground in a tournament that promised more than it delivered.
Nepal controlled the game through sharper movement and cleaner finishing. Lakpa Tamang and Saroj Tamang gave them a cushion that allowed Nepal to dictate tempo and space.
Bangladesh tried to disrupt that rhythm by pushing higher and committing bodies forward. Rahbar Wahed Khan pulled one back, but the response never lasted.
Nepal punished the gaps immediately. Sanje Syangtan and Bikrant Narsingh struck in quick succession to kill any late momentum Bangladesh tried to build.
The defeat left Bangladesh stuck on seven points from six matches. Nepal moved ahead with eight points from four outings, keeping their campaign alive.
Maldives continue to dominate the table with 12 points from four matches. Their consistency now sets the benchmark for the rest of the field.
Bangladesh’s tournament told a story of swings rather than control. They opened with a spirited draw against India, then absorbed heavy defeats against Maldives and Pakistan.
Victories over Nepal and Sri Lanka showed attacking promise. Defensive lapses, however, repeatedly erased that progress.
Nepal’s journey stayed steadier. Draws against India and Pakistan, wins over Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, and a narrow loss to Maldives kept them competitive.
