Bangladesh squeezed past Pakistan in a thriller and immediately pocketed another reward. The Tigers climbed one spot in the International Cricket Council ODI rankings after sealing the series with an 11-run victory.

The result pushed Bangladesh from tenth to ninth in the standings. The jump nudged West Indies cricket team down a rung and handed Bangladesh a tidy boost in the global pecking order.

The equation looked simple before the series began. Win the contest and the ranking shift would follow. Mehidy Hasan Miraz and his squad executed that plan by beating Pakistan national cricket team 2–1 on home soil.

The numbers underline the climb. Bangladesh now hold 79 rating points after collecting three points from the series. That margin pushed them two points clear of West Indies, who now sit tenth on 77.

Pakistan absorbed the series defeat but avoided a fall in the table. Shaheen Shah Afridi and company still occupy fourth place despite watching their rating drop from 105 to 102.

That final match sealed the ranking twist. The climb also sharpens Bangladesh’s ambitions for the 2027 ICC Cricket World Cup. Only the top eight teams in the rankings, alongside hosts South Africa and Zimbabwe, will secure automatic qualification.
