The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced a 16-member squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Afghanistan, scheduled to be held in Abu Dhabi later this month.
The squad is largely unchanged from the one that played against Sri Lanka earlier this year. Litton Kumer Das misses out as he continues recovering from a side strain, while Parvez Hossain Emon has also been left out.
In their place, right-handed batter Saif Hassan has been called up to the ODI side for the first time. The 26-year-old has impressed in recent T20 internationals and is expected to strengthen the top order.
Five players – captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Hasan Mahmud, Tanvir Islam and Nahid Rana – are set to travel to the UAE tonight to join the rest of the squad.
Left-handed opener Md Naim Sheikh is still awaiting visa clearance and will depart once it is granted. Similarly, batsman Soumya Sarkar, currently part of the T20I squad facing Afghanistan, is also facing visa delays.
The ODI series will be played at the Zayed Cricket Stadium on 8, 11 and 14 October.
