Bangla Academy has announced the recipients of the prestigious ‘Rabindra Award 2026’, recognising distinguished contributions to Rabindranath Tagore studies and Rabindra Sangeet.
Renowned Tagore researcher Professor Nripendra Lal Das and celebrated Rabindra Sangeet artiste Bulbul Islam have been selected for this year’s honour, according to a press release issued on Thursday and signed by Bangla Academy Director General Prof Mohammad Azam.
Professor Das is set to receive the award for his extensive work and contributions to Rabindranath Tagore research, while Bulbul Islam has been recognised for her notable role in promoting and practising Rabindra Sangeet.
The awards will be formally handed over on May 11 at a special programme organised by Bangla Academy marking the 165th birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore.
Introduced in 2010, the Rabindra Award is conferred annually on two individuals in recognition of their significant contributions to Tagore scholarship and cultural practice.
Each award includes a cash prize of Tk 1 lakh, alongside a certificate, commemorative crest and floral tribute.
