Actress Azmeri Haque Badhan has offered a glimpse into the emotions that often remain hidden behind the glamorous photos shared on social media.

Badhan is currently in Venice, Italy, attending the Venice International Film Festival with her film The Difficult Bride, directed by Rubaiyat Hossain. The film has been selected for the festival’s Orizzonti competition.

Sharing several photos from Venice, Badhan wrote that life is not always as beautiful as it appears in pictures.

She said what people share on social media represents only a moment, not the complete story. Although the day was beautiful in many ways, she was also dealing with some personal pain that she preferred to keep to herself.

Reflecting on the contrast between appearance and reality, Badhan gave an example from her own experience. She wrote that sometimes, even while wearing a beautiful outfit and putting on her best smile, she has to carry her high heels in her hand and walk in sandals or barefoot. To her, that is also part of life.

For the occasion in Venice, Badhan wore a sari by designer Maheen Khan along with traditional jewellery. She said she felt proud, grateful and happy at the time, while also carrying emotions that could not be captured in the photographs.

Badhan added that happiness and pain can coexist in life, and she is learning to accept both with dignity. She ended her post by expressing gratitude to Allah, writing that she has been given more than she ever imagined.

Meanwhile, The Difficult Bride has marked a historic achievement for Bangladesh at the Venice Film Festival, becoming the first Bangladeshi feature film to be selected for the festival’s Orizzonti section.
