The Chargé d’Affaires of the Australian High Commission, Clinton Pobke, visited the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) Unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) and held a courtesy meeting with CTTC Chief Md Masud Karim.
The meeting took place on Monday at the CTTC office this morning, according to a press release.
During the meeting, both sides discussed ways to strengthen mutual cooperation in combating terrorism and extremism.
They focused on information sharing, capacity building and expanding joint initiatives.
They also reviewed the regional security situation and emerging threats. Both sides stressed the need for coordinated efforts to address these challenges.
Clinton Pobke expressed interest in providing training support to enhance the capacity of Bangladesh Police and the CTTC unit.
Against the backdrop of existing friendly relations between Bangladesh and Australia, both sides expressed hope that the meeting would further strengthen bilateral cooperation.
They also reaffirmed their commitment to work closely together in counterterrorism efforts in the future.
