Attorney General Md Asaduzzaman is set to resign from his position on Saturday (27 December).

The attorney general announced this to reporters after collecting the BNP’s nomination papers to contest the national election from the Jhenaidah‑1 (Shailkupa) constituency.

He said, “On 27 December I will resign from the post of attorney general.”

Earlier, on 21 December, he declared his intention to run in the upcoming election from the constituency as a BNP candidate.

Following the fall of the Awami League government in last year’s mass uprising, Asaduzzaman, a senior lawyer of the Supreme Court, was appointed Attorney General on 8 August. In the 2018 national election, he contested from Jhenaidah‑1 as a BNP candidate.
