A Dhaka court on Wednesday issued an arrest warrant against actress Pori Moni and her costume designer Junaid Baghdadi Jimmy in an attempted murder case filed by businessman Nasir Uddin Mahmud.
Dhaka Senior Judicial Magistrate Mahfuzur Rahman passed the order after Pori Moni failed to appear before the court on the scheduled date.
According to the case documents, businessman Nasir filed the case on 18 July 2022 against three individuals, including Pori Moni, alleging vandalism, intimidation, and assault at Savar Boat Club on the night of 8 June 2021.
The other accused named in the case are Pori Moni’s costume designer Jimmy, also known as Jim, and Fatema Tuz Jannat Boni.
The investigation was later handed over to the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI).
The investigating officer submitted a report to the court after finding evidence supporting the allegations of assault and threats against Pori Moni and Jimmy.
Taking the PBI report into cognizance, the court ordered the accused to appear.
Although Pori Moni was previously on bail, the arrest warrant was issued after she failed to appear in court on Wednesday.
