The July Revolutionary Alliance has burned an effigy of Jatiya Party (JaPa) Chairman GM Quader and demanded his arrest within 24 hours in protest against the attack on Gono Odhikar Parishad President Nurul Haque Nur.
The organisation raised the demand at a press conference held in front of GM Quader’s residence at Uttara in the capital on Saturday afternoon.
Fantasir Mahmud, a spokesperson for the alliance, said “Jatiya Party was a pro-Indian party. It’s also a supporting ally of Awami League.”
“Jatiya Party has tried to legitimise three consecutive elections. So, JaPa should be banned through an investigation.”
The alliance pressed five demands, including a judicial investigation into the attack on Nur and punishment of the attackers, a ban on JaPa and arrest of GM Quader.
