The government has deployed the army in six districts, including Dhaka, to maintain law and order and ensure public safety. The deployment covers the districts of Dhaka, Chattogram, Gazipur, Narayanganj, Faridpur, and Gopalganj.

According to instructions from the Ministry of Home Affairs, army personnel will remain in the field until 30 June to avert potential sabotage and disorder.

The emergency directive, issued by the Political-2 branch of the ministry, stipulates that army members will operate under “In Aid to Civil Power” and are authorised to exercise magistracy powers.

This special step has been taken by the government to foil potential illegal processions and sabotage plans linked to the upcoming 77th founding anniversary of the banned Awami League on Tuesday.
