A new Eid special drama, titled ‘Anar Koli’, will bring the story of two street vendors in Dhaka to audiences during the upcoming Eid celebrations.

The story revolves around two lower-income hawkers, Anar and Koli, who make a living selling household items from vans in the narrow alleys of the capital. Koli earns her livelihood selling glassware, but her routine is disrupted when another vendor, Anar, arrives in the same neighbourhood to sell plastic goods.

Their rivalry begins with a quarrel between the two van sellers, gradually unfolding into a story about struggle, survival and life on the margins of the city.

The drama has been directed by acclaimed filmmaker Mohidul Mohim, who also wrote the screenplay. Cinematography was handled by Mostak Morshed.

Speaking about the project, Mohim said the drama highlights the daily struggles of people from the lowest-income groups in the city.
“This is the story of the life struggle of two people from the lowest class of the city. The narrative begins with a verbal clash between two hawkers, but through it I tried to portray a glimpse of the hardships faced by this group of people in urban life,” he said.

He added that he hopes the story will resonate with viewers and also prompt reflection among those from more privileged backgrounds.

Producer SK Shahed Ali Pappu said Anar Koli will be released as one of CMV’s special productions for Eid. The drama will premiere on CMV’s official YouTube channel during Eid.
