Amitabh Bachchan’s meticulous habit of numbering his posts on X recently hit an unexpected snag, after the veteran actor noticed an error in the sequence, writes The India Times.
Bachchan, who regularly begins his X posts with a number, acknowledged the mistake and apologised to his followers.
“T 5820 – A huge error by me in the numbering .. apologies…after 5817 .. it should read 5818, 5819, 5820,” he wrote.
He also thanked a fan named Sunil for bringing the error to his attention, writing, “thank you Ef Sunil for correcting me.”
The mistake occurred when a post numbered T 5817 was followed by one marked T 5718 instead of T 5818.
The numbering then continued incorrectly before Bachchan noticed the discrepancy and corrected it.
Rather than criticising the actor, fans turned the minor mistake into a source of humour.
One follower joked about the recent controversy surrounding alleged examination paper leaks, writing, “Glad you admitted the mistake, otherwise I was planning to go to Jantar Mantar to protest against this number leak.”
Another fan referenced Bachchan’s 1980s film Do Aur Do Paanch, joking that it was his “first such mistake” since the film.
Bachchan’s reference to “EF Sunil” also caught the attention of his followers. “EF” is a term the actor frequently uses for his fans, meaning “Extended Family”.
The identity of Sunil was not confirmed in Bachchan’s post.
Some online users speculated that he could be Surat-based industrialist and longtime fan Sunil Shah, whom Bachchan has acknowledged in the past.
However, the actor has not confirmed that the “EF Sunil” mentioned in his latest post is Shah.
What began as a simple numbering error therefore turned into another light-hearted interaction between Bachchan and his highly active online fan community.
