Alia Bhatt brought a touch of ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’ to Mumbai’s Durga Puja celebrations, turning heads in a vibrant traditional ensemble as she visited a pandal hosted by filmmaker Ayan Mukerji’s family.
According to NDTV, the actress attended the North Bombay Sarbojanin Durga Puja on 19 October, days after her husband, Ranbir Kapoor, visited the same venue. She wore a striking fuchsia-pink sari with gold detailing, paired with a contrasting turquoise-blue blouse featuring puffed sleeves.
Alia completed the look with gold jewellery, bangles, a bindi and a bun decorated with flowers. The Bengali-style drape recalled her character Rani Chatterjee from Karan Johar’s ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’.
During the visit, Alia took part in the festivities, including the aarti, and served bhog to devotees. She was accompanied by Ayan, her close friend and the director of ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ and ‘Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva’.
Ranbir had attended the celebrations earlier, wearing a traditional kurta. He also joined singer Harshdeep Kaur on stage to sing ‘Kabira’, the popular track from ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’.
The North Bombay Sarbojanin Durga Puja holds a special place in the Mukerji family’s history. Ayan’s grandfather, filmmaker Sashadhar Mukherjee, helped establish the pandal in 1948, and the annual celebration continues to draw prominent names from the Hindi film industry.
