Akshaye Khanna is entering a new phase of his career with Mahakali, his Telugu debut and the latest addition to filmmaker Prasanth Varma’s Cinematic Universe.

According to Hindustan Times, the makers have announced that the first glimpse of the mythological film will be released on 24 August.

The announcement came with a striking first look of Khanna as Shukracharya, the spiritual teacher of the Asuras in Hindu mythology.

The actor appears almost unrecognisable, sporting a long beard, matted hair tied into a high topknot and prominent tilak markings on his forehead.

The poster was shared by Prasanth Varma and RKD Studios alongside the cryptic message, “24th August – The End Begins”, immediately fuelling curiosity around the project.

Khanna’s portrayal of Shukracharya marks a significant departure from many of his recent roles.

The actor has enjoyed a strong run in recent years with films including Drishyam 2, Chhaava, Dhurandhar and Ikka.

His look in Mahakali has already generated considerable excitement online, with fans praising his transformation and screen presence.

Mahakali is part of the Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe (PVCU), which began with the success of Hanu-Man.
