Mutual Trust Bank has appointed AKM Tareq as deputy managing director (DMD) and head of its branch banking division, bringing in a senior banker with nearly three decades of experience across branch banking, corporate banking and credit risk management.
Prior to joining Mutual Trust Bank, Tareq served as senior executive vice president and senior zonal head at BRAC Bank, where he led business growth initiatives, branch banking transformation and operational efficiency programmes.
Over his 29-year banking career, he has held leadership roles at BRAC Bank, Eastern Bank, Bank Asia and IFIC Bank, working across retail expansion, credit portfolio management and operational restructuring.
Tareq holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in marketing from the University of Dhaka and an MBA in digital technology management from Royal Roads University in Canada. He is also an Omega Certified Credit Professional.
Mutual Trust Bank on Sunday said the appointment reflects its focus on strengthening branch banking leadership and expanding customer-facing operations across its distribution network.
The bank, headquartered in Dhaka, operates 122 branches, 58 sub-branches, 190 agent banking centres, 18 kiosks, 291 ATMs including 57 CRM booths, three CDM booths, eight air lounges and four foreign exchange booths, alongside more than 4,800 point-of-sale machines nationwide.
