AKIJ Resource marked World Day for Safety and Health at Work 2026 on Tuesday across its factories, organising rallies, awareness seminars and quiz competitions under the global theme of ensuring a healthy psychosocial working environment.
The programmes were held at subsidiaries including AKIJ Essentials, AKIJ Cement, AKIJ Ispat, AKIJ Asphalt Plant, AKIJ Ready Mix Concrete, AKIJ Light Engineering, AKIJ Polyfibres, AKIJ Feed and AKIJ Building Solutions, alongside a Hepatitis B screening and vaccination drive jointly arranged with Sheikh Fariq Uddin Welfare Trust and Liver Care Vaccination, the company said in a press release.
AKIJ Resource Head of Corporate Services Major Zahidul Hassan Retd said ensuring employees’ mental well-being and safety remains a core policy priority. “A work environment built on mutual respect, cooperation and psychological balance ensures sustainable productivity in the long run,” he said.
AKIJ Resource ESG Sustainability Lead Rahajul Amin said psychosocial health is a measurable indicator within the company’s environmental, social and governance framework, with continued focus on managing workplace stress and fostering mutual respect.
Observed globally every year on April 28 under the International Labour Organisation, the day highlights risks such as stress, burnout and poor working conditions alongside physical hazards.
The company said it continues to mark the day annually as part of its broader commitment to occupational health and safety.
