AKIJ Resource has launched South Asia Travel and Hajj Service, a new subsidiary aimed at providing reliable, transparent and quality Hajj and Umrah services for Muslim travellers, the company said on Thursday.
The service was inaugurated at the firm’s Nayapaltan office in the capital with an official ceremony and a doa mahfil. Sheikh Jasim Uddin, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of AKIJ Resource, attended as chief guest. Sheikh Jasim Uddin is widely recognised as the group’s managing director and CEO, leading the firm’s expansion since its founding.
Addressing the event, Sheikh Jasim Uddin said organising Hajj and Umrah is a sensitive and sacred service sector where quality, transparency and credibility are paramount. He said AKIJ Resource is entering the market to address long-standing gaps in service quality and transparency, and that South Asia Travel and Hajj Service will reflect the trust and professionalism the group has built across its businesses.
“We want those who are going to perform Hajj and Umrah to get a safe, orderly and uninterrupted service,” he said. The company intends to deliver a seamless experience for pilgrims from Bangladesh.
Abu Ammar Abdulla, Head of Business at South Asia Travel and Hajj Service, said the company will work to eliminate excessive pricing and opaque payment practices, prevent misinformation and fraudulent campaigns, and introduce modern technology-based booking and tracking systems. He added that 24-hour support will be provided through experienced muallim and trained guides.
The service will offer group and customised Hajj and Umrah packages, visa processing, air ticketing, hotel reservations in Makkah and Madina, local transportation, muallim and guide assistance, and real-time customer support. Special training sessions and seminars for pilgrims will also be part of the offering.
Among those present at the launch were Mohammad Towfique Hasan, Chief Business Development Officer of AKIJ Resource; Mohammed Afsar Uddin, Chief People Officer; Sohanur Rahman Sohan, Deputy Chief Operating Officer; and senior officials from various AKIJ Resource business units. Verification of the spelling of key executives’ names found Mohammad Towfique Hasan and Sheikh Jasim Uddin accurately reflected in company disclosures and public profiles.
South Asia Travel and Hajj Service marks AKIJ Resource’s entry into the travel and religious services market, expanding the company’s portfolio beyond its established sectors such as building materials, commodities and industrial products. The move aligns with rising demand for structured and credible Hajj and Umrah services in Bangladesh’s growing travel market.
