Import and export activities through Brahmanbaria’s Akhaura land port via the Agartala Integrated Check Post (ICP) in Tripura state, India, will remain suspended for seven days on the occasion of Durga Puja and Lakshmi Puja.

According to the decision, trade operations will be closed for five days from 17 to 21 October for Durga Puja. The port will reopen from 22 to 24 October, during which regular trade activities will run. Operations will close again for two days on 25 and 26 October for Lakshmi Puja. The port will return to regular activities from 27 October.

This decision was conveyed in a letter issued on Thursday by the Indo-Bangla Exporter-Importer Communication Centre in Agartala to the Superintendent of Customs at Agartala land port. Copies of the letter were also sent to Bangladeshi traders and various departments.

Akhaura Land Port C&F Agents Association President Nesar Uddin Bhuiyan confirmed the holiday closure. He said that fish export is also kept closed on Fridays and added that all traders have been informed of the closure.
