Artificial intelligence (AI) will be critical for the next stage of growth of Bangladesh’s internet service provider (ISP) industry, sector leaders said at the launch of an AI-powered enterprise resource planning (ERP) platform developed specifically for ISPs.
Plexus Cloud Limited launched the AI-based ISP ERP software at a ceremony held at Banani Club in Dhaka on Monday night, attended by senior representatives from the country’s information technology and internet sectors. The platform combines billing, customer relationship management, network operations, accounting, Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) compliance and administrative functions into a single system.
Mohammad Aminul Hakim, president of the Internet Service Providers Association of Bangladesh (ISPAB), said modern software and automation-based solutions were essential for the sustainable development of the country’s internet industry.
“We must adopt AI. Otherwise, we will not be able to take the ISP business to the next stage,” he said.
Nazmul Karim Bhuiyan, secretary general of ISPAB, said installation work for 108,000 internet connections under the government’s EDC project was underway. Around 55,000 connections had already been completed, with the remaining work expected to be finished within the stipulated timeframe.
Plexus Cloud said the new ERP platform would help ISPs improve customer service, maintain uninterrupted connectivity and provide faster and more reliable internet services. The AI-enabled system is designed to make ISP operations more efficient, automated and customer-focused.
The company has also introduced an Internet User App, allowing customers to access connection details, pay bills, receive service updates and manage their accounts more conveniently.
A Transmission App has also been developed to help ISPs improve transmission operations through better network management, monitoring and operational efficiency.
AI author Rakibul Hasan said successful AI implementation depends on access to quality and sufficient data. He said Plexus Cloud has the required data resources to use AI for delivering more effective services to customers.
Mobarak Hossain, chief executive officer of Plexus Cloud Limited, said the ERP solution was developed to bring Bangladesh’s ISP industry under a smarter and more automated management framework.
The platform would improve operational efficiency, customer service management and business decision-making for ISPs, he said in a press release.
He added that the technology-driven system would make daily ISP operations more dynamic and accurate, while improving service quality and reducing operating costs.
Former ISPAB president Md Emdadul Hoque also addressed the event. Representatives from most of the country’s 36 ISPs involved in the government’s ICT Division-led EDC project attended the programme.
