The interim government has clarified that recent comments made by Adviser to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Mahfuz Alam at a “Meet the Reporters” programme at Dhaka Reporters Unity have led to unnecessary confusion.

In a statement issued in Dhaka on Monday, the government said media reports suggesting that reform initiatives and policy formulation must be completed by November are incorrect.

“The reform programme will continue with full momentum,” the statement said.

It added that the Advisory Council will continue performing its responsibilities regularly until power is handed over to an elected government. Council meetings will also be held as usual.

The government urged the media and public not to misunderstand the advisers’ mandate or timeline.
