Ferdousi Shahriar, additional foreign secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, passed away on Wednesday at approximately 4:30pm. She was 54 years old at the time of her demise and was undergoing treatment at the Bangladesh Specialized Hospital.
Bangladesh Foreign Service Association (BFSA) has expressed profound shock and grief at the sudden and untimely passing of ambassador Ferdousi Shahriar, reads a press release.
A distinguished official of the 18th batch of the BCS (Foreign Affairs) cadre, Ferdousi began her career at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as an assistant secretary on 25 January 1999.
During her professional journey, she served in various capacities at Bangladesh missions in Bangkok, Rome, Manchester, and Washington DC. Her most recent posting was as the high commissioner of Bangladesh to Singapore.
In a formal message, the Association prayed for the eternal peace of her soul and extended its deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved family members.
In her personal life, Ferdousi was known as an honest, dedicated, and philanthropic individual. She is survived by her husband, three children, and a host of well-wishers.
