The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has decided to file a case against 21 individuals, including 12 members of the Public Service Commission, on allegations of illegally appointing 6 candidates to administration, police, and other cadre posts under the Freedom Fighter quota, through abuse of power, fraud, and forgery in collusion, despite them not applying under the quota, six months after the results of the 29th BCS examination were published.
The ACC informed this in a press release on Wednesday.
The accused include former Public Service Commission members AT Ahmedul Haque Chowdhury, Professor Suraiya Begum, Mirza Shamsuzzaman, Abidur Reza Khan, Ehshan Shamin, Professor Rashida Begum, Mohammad Hossain Serniabat, Professor Emran Kabir Chowdhury, Syed Hasinur Rahman, Ikram Ahmed, Professor Farida Adib Khanam, Muhammad Liaquat Ali Khan, former secretary Chowdhury Babul Hasan, former examination controller AIM Nesar Uddin, and former assistant secretary of the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs Lokman Ahmed.
The six appointed cadre officers are Rakibur Rahman Khan, Tofazzal Hossain, Halima Khatun, Milton Ali Biswas, Nahida Barik, and Khorshed Alam.
The case accuses the defendants of fraud, forgery, and abuse of power in the recruitment and examination process.
Permission has been granted to file the case under sections 420/467/468/471/109 of the Penal Code and section 5(2) of the Corruption Prevention Act, 1947, as per the investigation team’s recommendation.
