Abahani’s campaign in the Bangladesh Football League continues to face challenges, sitting five points behind leaders Bashundhara Kings and Fortis FC. Their Federation Cup form has also been underwhelming.

Following a defeat to Brothers in their previous game, Abahani could only manage a 1-1 draw against Rahmatganj. With one win and one draw from three matches, the previous season’s runners-up remain second in Group A with four points. Brothers, meanwhile, climbed to the top of the group after a 3-0 victory over PWDC.

In Comilla, Abahani fell behind early as Ghanaian Ernest Boakye struck in the ninth minute for Rahmatganj. The visitors were awarded a penalty just before half-time, which Sheikh Morsalin successfully converted to level the score. The second half saw few clear chances, with neither side able to take the lead.

At Bashundhara Arena, Brothers’ 3-0 triumph was led by a brace from Pakistani midfielder Shaikh Dost, who netted in the 12th and 58th minutes. Spaniard Ibrahima Barry added the third, ensuring a comfortable win. This result significantly improves Brothers’ prospects of advancing to the knockout stages.

In the other group of this 10-team tournament, Fortis FC top the table with five points from three matches, followed closely by Mohammedan.
