As spring nears, Dhaka is preparing to host a celebration that places women’s empowerment, creativity and entrepreneurship at its core. Adda Chole, a lifestyle exhibition in collaboration with IDLC, is returning with its 6th edition, bringing together passionate female entrepreneurs under one vibrant roof where style, innovation and community meet.
Scheduled for January 9-10 at the Midas Centre in Dhanmondi, the event has grown into a significant platform for women-led businesses driven by vision and local pride. What began in 2021 as a response to the monotony and suffocation of prolonged COVID-19 lockdowns has since evolved into a space of renewal. At a time when many businesses had shut down, and entrepreneurs felt isolated, the organisers sought to restore momentum, morale and human connection.
Shanaz Shultana, owner of Rongdhonu Creation and one of the organisers, reflected on the motivation behind the initiative. “Women are often left behind in the business world,” she said. “We feel a responsibility to pull each other up. Adda Chole is about boosting confidence, sustaining businesses and reminding women that they are not alone in this journey.”
In an era where women entrepreneurs are making visible strides across industries, platforms like Adda Chole play a crucial role in creating access and visibility. The exhibition allows small businesses to reconnect with customers while building valuable networks.
Neshat Unzum, owner of Aurum Bangladesh and a fellow organiser, noted that the response has consistently surpassed expectations. “Every brand here brings its own loyal customer base,” she said. “What’s interesting is that many corporate representatives also visit, not just to shop, but to observe, learn and explore collaboration opportunities.”
The experience goes beyond commerce. Moury Najnin, organiser and owner of Eeha and Coffee Trap, explained that the atmosphere sets Adda Chole apart. “People don’t just come to buy products,” she said. “We have open spaces with comfortable seating where visitors can sit, chat and even play Ludo. Clients often bring friends just to hang out.” The event also features interactive game segments that keep the environment lively and welcoming.
At its heart, Adda Chole functions as more than an exhibition; it is a living marketplace of ideas, conversations and ambitions. It is a space where women entrepreneurs amplify their voices, celebrate innovation and support one another’s dreams. For attendees, the experience offers more than shopping; it provides a chance to connect directly with the people behind the brands, making every interaction personal and meaningful.
