Assistant coach Hasan Al Mamun says Bangladesh are following a well-structured training programme ahead of their AFC Asian Cup qualifier against India, even as head coach Javier Cabrera monitors preparations remotely from Spain.
Cabrera, who recently became a father, is expected to arrive in Dhaka on 3 or 4 November. In the meantime, Mamun and his staff are overseeing daily sessions at the Dhaka National Stadium.
“Our plans were set earlier,” Mamun said. “Even though the head coach is away for personal reasons, he’s watching every training video and guiding us from Spain. Everything is being done according to his instructions.”
The assistant coach believes Bangladesh have the quality to perform well at home despite recent setbacks. “We made mistakes in Hong Kong, but at home, we are stronger,” he said. “We’ve analysed what went wrong and are working to fix those issues before facing India.”
Mamun added that the squad’s final selection will be confirmed once players from Bashundhara Kings, currently engaged in AFC Challenge Cup duty, join the camp. “We’re expecting around 26 to 28 players. Once everyone is here, we’ll finalise the lineup.”
Emphasising the importance of focus, Mamun said, “We want to end our campaign well. The boys are motivated, and we believe we can deliver a strong performance for our supporters.”
Bangladesh will host India on 18 November in their final AFC Asian Cup qualifier, hoping to make a statement on home soil.
