27 former members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) (formerly Bangladesh Rifles) were released on bail Thursday morning in connection with the explosives case related to the 2009 Pilkhana carnage.
The release took place around 10:00am from three separate prisons in Kashimpur.
According to prison officials, 12 of the ex-BDR members were freed from the Kashimpur High Security Central Jail, 10 from Kashimpur Central Jail-2, and five from Kashimpur Central Jail-1.
The bail follows legal proceedings in one of several cases stemming from the deadly mutiny that shook the then BDR headquarters in Dhaka.
