The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has received approval to purchase two bulletproof vehicles.
The Ministry of Home Affairs granted this permission to ensure the security of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and acting chairman Tarique Rahman during their election campaigns.
Khaleda Zia’s Security Affairs Adviser, Major General (retd) Fazle Elahi Akbar, explained that during the 13th national parliamentary election, Khaleda Zia and Tarique Rahman will travel across the country for public engagement and interaction with people.
He emphasised that while their security is a priority, their connection with the public is also essential. Given these concerns, the purchase of bulletproof vehicles is deemed necessary.
In addition, Akbar mentioned that BNP has applied for a license for one shotgun and two pistols. The Ministry of Home Affairs has confirmed that the application is still under consideration.
