A meeting was held between Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman and Italian Ambassador to Dhaka Antonio Alessandro and his Algerian counterpart Abdel Wahab Saïdani.
The meeting was held on Wednesday at the Jamaat Ameer’s office in Dhaka’s Bashundhara.
According to a press statement, the meeting with the Italian ambassador was held at 9am. At the beginning of the meeting, Ambassador Antonio Alessandro inquired about Shafiqur Rahman’s health.
Furthermore, during the meeting, they held discussions on the overall situation in Bangladesh, Bangladesh-Italy bilateral relations, the upcoming national parliament elections, among a host of other issues.
Both parties expressed optimism about further strengthening the development, progress, and mutual relations of the two countries in the future.
The Italian Deputy Head of Mission Federico Zamparelli, and Jamaat’s Secretary General Golam Parwar along with Assistant Secretary General and Chief of Central Publicity & Media Department Ahsanul Mahboob Zubair were also present at the meeting with the ambassador.
Later, around noon, the Algerian ambassador called on the Jamaat Ameer. Ambassador Abdel Wahab Saïdani discussed various bilateral issues, including the overall situation in Bangladesh and the upcoming parliamentary elections.
