The National Citizen Party Diaspora Alliance’s (NCP) UK Chapter has issued a statement condemning the alleged Awami League attacks abroad.
NCP UK Alliance states, “The associates of Bangladesh Awami League are repeatedly engaging in violent activities abroad, which has become a serious threat to the safety and dignity of expatriate Bangladeshis. Recently, there have been attacks on the interim government’s respected adviser Dr Yunus, information adviser Mahfuj Alam, and expatriate physician Dr. ahim in London. Just yesterday, members of the NCP Japan Alliance were also attacked. Similar incidents have occurred earlier in the United States.”
“Such activities – inciting hatred, intimidation, physical assaults, and vandalism – are clearly criminal acts. Political disagreement is a democratic right, but violence and intimidation never are,” it reads.
The statement goes on to “strongly condemn these attacks” and calls on the Bangladeshi community to boycott anyone involved in these activities, simultaneously urging authorities to take action against the alleged perpetrators to ensure the safety of Bangladeshi expats worldwide.
It goes on to add, “We also call upon Bangladeshi High Commissions/Embassies worldwide to adopt a more urgent, firm, and clear stance regarding these incidents. The delayed and limited response observed so far may send the wrong message and encourage the criminals.”
Adding that “NCP UK Alliance stands firmly with the victims and will continue to do so”, it concludes by saying, “We call upon the authorities in the UK, Japan, and international law enforcement agencies to prioritise the investigation and prosecution of these criminal activities and bring the perpetrators to justice as quickly as possible.”
