Comedian and restaurateur Nigel Ng, popularly known as ‘Uncle Roger’ online, has tied the knot with Sabrina Ahmed, a British lawyer of Bengali heritage, in a spectacular three-day celebration in Sintra, Portugal, blending Malay, Chinese, Bengali and Western traditions.

The couple first connected when Sabrina attended one of Nigel’s shows in Miami. Though initially cautious due to family health issues, Sabrina agreed to meet Nigel in Boston, where a serendipitous airport encounter on November 11, 2022 sparked their romance.

“I immediately felt drawn to her elegance and warmth,” Nigel recalls, while Sabrina was struck by his intelligence and quiet focus on family. Within months, they were in love and by March 2023, Nigel knew he wanted to marry her.

In April 2024, Nigel proposed under the cherry blossoms in Tokyo, fulfilling Sabrina’s long-standing dream to be engaged amidst flowering trees. Friends and family, including members of their future wedding party, joined the intimate celebration.

Their wedding weekend in July 2025 spanned three days. A joint bachelor-bachelorette party kicked off the festivities, followed by a Sangeet honouring Sabrina’s Bengali roots, complete with pastel décor, live henna stations and choreographed dances.

A Chinese tea ceremony and a Western wedding ceremony rounded out the celebrations, reflecting both their cultural heritages.
Sabrina wore four ensembles over the weekend, including a soft pink, floral-embroidered lehenga for the Sangeet and an ornate Indonesian-inspired qipao for the tea ceremony, featuring symbolic embroidery of the couple’s zodiac signs and cherry blossoms.

Nigel’s attire complemented hers, with a deep red velvet tang jacket and a black-tie Ralph Lauren tuxedo for the Western ceremony.
The ‘sangeet’ dinner, held in a glasshouse draped in greenery and soft pink fabrics, featured South Asian cuisine and culminated in a surprise 15-minute dance performance by friends and family.

The Chinese tea ceremony involved traditional games and a heartfelt sharing of blessings, while the Western ceremony saw Sabrina walk down the aisle. Nigel, usually reserved, was visibly moved, prompting tears from both the couple and their guests.

After a cocktail hour with Brazilian Bossa Nova, the couple performed a choreographed first dance to Jacky Cheung’s “Ai Shi Yong Heng.” The evening ended with Chinese lion dancers, a multi-tiered cake and a late-night noodle bar, leaving guests enchanted by the seamless blend of cultures and traditions.

Reflecting on their wedding, Nigel describes marrying Sabrina as “the greatest achievement of my life and the most beautiful note to start our life together.”
