Barcelona will stage their La Liga clash against Valencia at the Johan Cruyff stadium on 7 September 2025, as the Spotify Camp Nou is still not licensed to reopen amid ongoing reconstruction.
The Spanish champions had hoped to welcome a reduced crowd at their iconic home, but the club has yet to secure the necessary permits to do so. “The club is working intensively to obtain the required administrative approvals to open Spotify Camp Nou in the coming weeks,” Barcelona said in a statement. “We thank our members, fans, and supporters for their understanding during this complex and exciting process as we prepare to return to the new Spotify Camp Nou.”
The Johan Cruyff stadium, which regularly hosts Barcelona’s women’s team, has a capacity of around 6,000 spectators.
Barcelona closed Camp Nou at the end of the 2022/23 season for extensive rebuilding, originally aiming to partially reopen in November 2024. The team played home matches at the Olympic stadium on Montjuic hill until the end of last season, with repeated delays in construction and licensing pushing back their return.
A Post Malone concert at the Olympic stadium on 5 September 2025 further prevents Barcelona from returning there this weekend.
The Camp Nou rebuild is estimated to cost 1.5 billion euros ($1.75 billion) and is scheduled for completion in 2026.
