A woman was stabbed to death with a sharp weapon at Kamalapur Railway Station in the capital on Monday night.
Police have stated that the incident was committed due to a deterioration in a romantic relationship.
The stabbing took place at around 11pm on Monday. Police rescued the woman in critical condition and brought her to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared her dead at around 1am.
Sub-Inspector (SI) Abu Hanif of Dhaka Railway Police Station (Kamalapur) mentioned that around 11pm, they received information that a young man had stabbed a woman with a sharp weapon near platform number 7 inside the railway station. They went to the scene immediately, rescued the woman in a bloody state, and took her to the hospital.
However, after examination, the doctor declared her dead. He added that the deceased had sharp weapon injuries on her face and neck. Her body has been kept in the morgue for autopsy.
Meanwhile, Officer-in-Charge (OC) Joynal Abedin of Dhaka Railway Police Station stated that the deceased woman’s name was Shyamoli (30). Her home is in Natore district, and the arrested young man is named Shujon, who is from Pabna.
They were in a romantic relationship. Preliminary investigations suggest that due to a deterioration in their romantic relationship, he randomly attacked and killed her with a sharp weapon inside the railway station.
Shujon has been arrested, and a detailed investigation is underway.
