Hollywood actor and activist Mark Ruffalo has issued a powerful statement denouncing what he called a “man-made famine” in Gaza, accusing those in power of enabling the suffering through inaction.

The Avengers star, widely recognised for portraying the Hulk in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, took to social media to highlight that the escalating humanitarian crisis is not the consequence of natural forces but of deliberate political decisions.

“What we are seeing in Gaza is not simply a tragedy, it is a crime against humanity. Forced starvation, a man-made famine — children and families wasting away while the world watches in silence. This is not a natural disaster,” Ruffalo wrote.

Known for using his platform to speak on environmental, humanitarian and social justice issues, Ruffalo made a direct appeal to politicians and heads of state. In a strongly worded message, he accused world leaders of failing those most in need.

He wrote that their silence is complicity and their inaction is enabling this suffering. “We cannot stand by while an entire people are starved. Humanity demands more of us. Do something!,” the post read.

He also encouraged citizens worldwide to use their voices, insisting that public pressure could help force accountability.

“Demand an end to this famine. Demand an end to genocide and destruction. Demand accountability. Demand life,” he concluded.

This is far from the first occasion Ruffalo has raised his voice on Gaza. Earlier this month he joined the #HalfHeartsForGaza campaign, urging fellow celebrities to take part in solidarity.

Beyond this, Ruffalo has long been outspoken on global conflicts, climate change, and social justice movements, using his platform to amplify causes often ignored in mainstream discourse.
