A total of 658 candidates have so far collected nomination papers till Tuesday to contest the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) election slated for September 9.
Chief Election Commissioner Prof Jasim Uddin has disclosed this information at a press conference at the election office in Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Building.
Ninety-three candidates collected nomination forms on Tuesday, the extended day for the nomination collection.
As of Monday, 1,226 students from 18 residential halls of Dhaka University collected nomination papers to vie for various posts, the CEC added.
No candidate has collected nomination papers under any political party’s banner, he also said.
According to available information, nomination forms can be collected until Wednesday, August 20.
The final list of candidates will be published on August 26. For the first time, the DUCSU election will be held outside the residential halls on September 9.
