A notorious gang leader of a snatching group was arrested by Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) in Mohammadpur in the capital on Tuesday.
The arrestee was identified as Billal, also known as “Agni Billal” or “Bhagne Billal”.
According to CTTC sources, one of their teams conducted a special operation in the capital Tuesday and learned that Billal, a notorious mugger active in Mohammadpur and Adabor areas, was hiding in Shamlapur, Savar.
Based on this information, a raid was conducted around 1:00am leading to his arrest.
Billal used to hold people at gunpoint or with machetes and other sharp weapons to mug them in Mohammadpur, Adabor, and other areas.
CTTC sources added that Billal has six criminal cases and seven arrest warrants against him in Mohammadpur and Adabor police stations.
Legal action is being taken against Billal.
