The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) will finalise the eight teams for the upcoming National Cricket League (NCL) T20 and the subsequent four-day tournament following a two-day fitness test scheduled for 4 and 5 September. Divisional teams have already submitted separate lists of 30 players each, from which selectors will name final squads of 15, with an additional four to five like-for-like players kept on standby.

“Before the fitness test, players will undergo training under BCB fitness trainers. Alongside fitness, they will also work on their skills,” a BCB official told The Daily Star yesterday.

Initially, the teams will only be formed for the T20 competition, which is set to begin on 14 September. The squads for the four-day format, scheduled to start in mid-October, will be announced at a later date. The fitness test will take place in Dhaka.

The BCB is yet to decide the fate of Dhaka Metro players, who are set to take part in the NCL T20. The side will be replaced by Mymensingh Division in the longer-version tournament, and discussions are ongoing about whether Dhaka Metro players will represent Mymensingh in the four-day competition.

However, the official stated that a decision on the matter will be taken once BCB president Aminul Islam returns from Australia next week.
