Jatiya Ganatantrik Party (JAGPA) has announced a programme to besiege the Indian High Commission in Dhaka on Wednesday, demanding the return of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and an end to what it termed as “Indian aggression”.
According to the party, the demonstration will begin at 11am from in front of Canadian University in Merul Badda and will be led by JAGPA Vice President and spokesperson Rashed Prodhan.
The announcement came from an organisational meeting held at Paltan on Tuesday afternoon.
“India has been sheltering the killer Hasina with state honours for a year now,” said Rashed Prodhan at the meeting. “We will lay siege to the Indian High Commission tomorrow to press home our clear demands — India must return the killer Hasina and stop its aggression on Bangladesh.”
He also urged “patriotic citizens who want to protect the country’s independence and sovereignty” to join the siege programme.
The JAGPA spokesperson warned that everyone must remain vigilant so that “Awami terrorists cannot infiltrate the programme and incite violence.”
Acknowledging the possibility of traffic congestion in the surrounding area due to the demonstration, he apologised in advance to residents.
JAGPA leaders who also spoke at the meeting include General Secretary Professor Iqbal Hossain Prodhan, Presidium members Asadur Rahman Khan and Syed Shafiqul Islam, and Joint General Secretary Rowshan Alam Akand.
