BNP’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman has alleged that a faction within the interim government is resorting to various forms of “deception”.

He made these remarks while virtually addressing a commemorative meeting titled “July-August Mass Uprising: The Horrors of Ashulia” from London on Wednesday afternoon.

Tarique stated, “The people have entrusted the interim government with state governance after ousting fascism. But now, certain concerning developments are emerging. A section within this interim government is employing various forms of ‘deception’.”

He added, “Whether in educational institutions, local governance, or national politics, BNP stands for electing people’s representatives through public votes in every sphere. The crucial question is whether the interim government is demonstrating wisdom in handling these matters.”

The BNP leader warned, “Defeated, fugitive, and ousted fascist forces, who were toppled at the cost of hundreds of martyrs’ blood, are now lying in wait to re-establish themselves in state and politics. Any misstep by the government could jeopardise the country’s transition to democracy and allow fascism, extremism, and terrorism to resurface. The interim government must remain vigilant.”

Tarique Rahman emphasised, “BNP has always prioritised free, fair, and impartial elections to ensure every citizen can directly voice their will.”
