Three more people died of the mosquito-borne disease in the past 24 hours, raising the death toll from dengue fever to 73 this year.
Among the deaths, two were reported in Chittagong Division and one in Dhaka South City Corporation, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
During this period, 331 new dengue patients were hospitalised across the country.
The figures were released in the DGHS’s regular dengue update, issued Saturday by the Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room.
According to the report, 132 new patients were admitted in Barisal division, 73 in Dhaka division, 30 in Chattogram Division, 18 in Khulna Division, and 3 in Mymensingh Division (excluding city corporations).
Within Dhaka city, 28 patients were admitted under the Dhaka North City Corporation and 47 under Dhaka South City Corporation.
A total of 275 patients has recovered and been discharged from hospitals in the last 24 hours, the DGHS said.
Bangladesh has recorded 19,120 dengue cases from January 1 to till date. Of these, 17,693 patients have already recovered. The data shows a slightly higher infection rate among males, who account for 58.6 per cent of cases, while females make up 41.4 per cent.
The continued rise in infections has raised concerns ahead of the peak monsoon months, when mosquito breeding typically intensifies. Health authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant, eliminate mosquito breeding grounds, and seek early treatment in case of symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, muscle pain, or rash.
