At least three people who sustained gunshot wound from Wednesday’s violence in Gopalganj have been admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
Of those injured, Sumon Biswas, 25, is a professional driver. He sustained bullet wounds to his abdomen and the little finger of his right hand.
According to family members, the incident occurred around 1:30 PM on Wednesday in the Shishu Bon area of Gopalganj Sadar Upazila, when law enforcement opened fire during the unrest. At the time, Sumon was driving a delivery truck carrying soft drinks.
Speaking to reporters, Sumon’s mother, Nipa Biswas, said, “Immediately after the shooting, Sumon was taken for local treatment. Later in the afternoon, we brought him to Dhaka Medical.”
Inspector Md Faruk Mia of the Dhaka Medical Police Outpost confirmed that Sumon is currently receiving treatment at the hospital after being shot.
Sumon is the son of Sushil Biswas of Tungipara village, Gopalganj Sadar Upazila.
All the injured have gunshot injury sustained during Wednesday’s violent clashes between AL activists and law enforcing agencies in Gopalganj.
