Kartik Aaryan is set to return to the big screen under Kabir Khan’s direction, with the pair joining forces for a new film titled ‘Ladaku’.
According to Deadline, the project will also mark a career milestone for the actor, who is making his debut as a film producer.
Birla Studios is leading production of the film, with Kabir Khan Entertainment also attached. Aaryan will produce the project through his banner, Dopamine Studios, which he launched earlier this year.
The makers have kept the storyline under wraps but describe ‘Ladaku’ as an inspiring and emotionally engaging film. They are positioning it as a family entertainer built around themes of ambition, determination and hope.
Birla Studios, led by Ananya Birla, said the film would tell a story rooted in “ambition, grit and hope”.
The producers also see the project as an emotional, heartwarming entertainer in the vein of Khan’s earlier films ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ and ’83’.
Both films follow characters who confront difficult circumstances and overcome obstacles through determination.
‘Ladaku’ brings Aaryan and Khan together again after their 2024 sports biographical drama ‘Chandu Champion’.
The film portrayed the life of Murlikant Petkar, India’s first Paralympic gold medallist, with Aaryan playing the lead role.
His performance earned him the Filmfare Award for Best Actor in 2024, marking a significant achievement in his career.
Khan, meanwhile, has built a reputation for directing films that combine emotional storytelling with larger themes. His credits include ‘Kabul Express’, ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ and ’83’.
For Aaryan, ‘Ladaku’ represents an opportunity to expand his role in the film industry beyond acting. He has previously appeared in commercially successful films, including ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’ and ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’.
‘Ladaku’ is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on 18 June 2027.
