Salman Khan’s return to playback singing has sparked an online debate, with sections of the audience questioning the decision to include a flirtatious party song in a film inspired by the 2020 Galwan Valley clash.
According to Gulf News, the actor released ‘Teri Sexy Beauty’ on 4 November as part of his upcoming film ‘Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace’.
The track, featuring Chitrangda Singh, marks his first playback outing in 11 years. However, instead of focusing solely on his musical comeback, much of the online discussion has centred on whether the song fits the film’s subject.
The music video shows Salman and Chitrangda sharing romantic moments, dancing and enjoying drinks. Chitrangda appears in a red sari, while the song’s lyrics make playful references to a woman’s beauty and drinking.
Salman also promoted the release on social media with a cheeky caption about an early-morning flight and having two drinks with his ‘sexy beauty’.
A section of social media users criticised the song’s lyrics and presentation, arguing that they sit uneasily alongside a film inspired by the sacrifice of Indian soldiers.
Some questioned how a light-hearted romantic number could feature in a story connected to the deaths of 20 Army personnel in Galwan, including Colonel Bikkumalla Santosh Babu.
Others took aim at Salman’s singing and the lyrics, with one user comparing them to something generated by ChatGPT.
Another accused the actor of damaging his own legacy, while a particularly critical comment urged him to retire. The song’s repeated references to flying also became a source of jokes.
The response, however, has not been entirely negative. Some fans defended the track, calling it catchy and welcoming Salman’s return to the microphone after more than a decade.
Sung by Salman and Muskaan, ‘Teri Sexy Beauty’ also features additional vocals by Sajid Khan. The song’s release has renewed discussion about the creative direction of ‘Maatrubhumi’, which was earlier titled ‘Battle of Galwan’.
Directed by Apoorva Lakhia, the film draws inspiration from the June 2020 confrontation between Indian and Chinese troops in eastern Ladakh. Salman plays an Army officer, while Chitrangda portrays his wife.
The makers have yet to announce a new theatrical release date. The film was initially scheduled to arrive in April 2026, but reportedly underwent changes and reshoots before its planned screening by the Central Board of Film Certification.
