AB Party General Secretary Barrister Mohammad Asaduzzaman Bhuiyan Fuad could not appear before the International Crimes Tribunal on Wednesday to explain the contempt of court allegation against him as he is suffering from dengue. His lawyer sought a one-month extension on his behalf.
The court fixed 23 November as the next hearing date.
Earlier, the tribunal summoned Fuad over adverse remarks regarding the trial process and verdicts concerning crimes against humanity at the International Crimes Tribunal.
Tribunal-1 issued the order suo motu on 1 November, directing him to appear in person on 4 November to explain the allegations.
It is alleged that while commenting on the tribunal’s trial process at a recent AB Party event, Fuad remarked, “Sacks of transactions are taking place here”.
The tribunal summoned him following this statement.
