The Bangladeshi film ‘Chirkut’ has been officially selected for the Bangladesh Panorama section of the 25th Dhaka International Film Festival 2027.
The official Facebook page of Chirkut movie posted ‘Being selected for one of Bangladesh’s most significant international film festivals is a proud and meaningful milestone for the entire Chirkut team. This recognition inspires us to continue telling stories with honesty, passion, and a deep love for cinema.’
Based on a true incident at the University of Rajshahi in the 1990s, the film has attracted interest from audiences and cinema enthusiasts since its release. Its selection for a major section of the international festival marks another achievement for the film.
‘Chirkut’ continues its theatrical run in the country. In its third week of release, the film is screening at two of the country’s popular multiplex chains, Star Cineplex and Blockbuster Cinemas, as well as Grand River View Cineplex in Rajshahi.
Muntasir Akib directed the film. Drawing on memories of the 1990s, university life and real events, ‘Chirkut’ tells a story set in a different era.
The official selection marks a significant achievement for the Chirkut team. The director, cast and crew are now looking forward to the film’s screening at the festival.
