Police have arrested Disha, a friend of former Air Force flight lieutenant KM Tahsif Souri, in connection with his death.

She was arrested during a drive in Kafrul on Saturday night, Tongi River Police Outpost Inspector Firoz Ahmed said on Sunday.

Investigation Officer Firoz Uddin produced Disha before the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ripon Hossain and sought a seven-day remand for her.

Public Prosecutor Shamsuddoha Sumon confirmed the matter.

In the remand petition, the investigation officer said information had been obtained indicating that Disha visited a bar in Uttara with Tahsif on the night of 27 October, before the incident. They reportedly stayed there for around an hour and a half.

CCTV footage also showed them visiting various places together, including a motorcycle garage. Investigators also have records of mobile phone communications between them.

The petition stated that Disha needs to be questioned to uncover the circumstances surrounding the killing, identify and arrest other unidentified suspects, recover evidence and establish the exact location where the incident took place.

The investigation officer also highlighted the need to compare Disha’s statements with those given by Dwip, another friend of Tahsif who is currently on a four-day remand.

Sources involved in the investigation said that, following allegations by Tahsif’s family, the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) initially took Dwip, who was known to be a close companion of Tahsif, into custody for questioning. During questioning, Dwip provided information about places he had visited with Tahsif and the reasons for those visits.

However, sources involved in the investigation claimed that several inconsistencies were found in Dwip’s statements. Investigators subsequently visited various locations based on the information he provided.

Police want to interrogate Disha on remand to verify and compare her statements with Dwip’s account and the new information obtained during the investigation.
