Chief Whip of National Parliament Nurul Islam Moni has called for expanded government initiatives and heightened public awareness to prevent breast cancer and protect women’s health.

He said public awareness, regular health check-ups, and early disease detection are essential to combat breast cancer, emphasising that awareness programmes must be extended across all levels, including educational institutions.

He made these remarks as the chief guest at an event titled “Pink Wellbeing: A Journey of Breast Cancer” organised by Talent Sharpener at Renaissance Dhaka Gulshan Hotel in Gulshan, Dhaka, on Friday.

Speaking on national development, the chief whip said Bangladesh’s greatest asset is its people. He highlighted that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is working to transform citizens into skilled, healthy, and self-reliant human resources.

As women constitute more than half of the country’s population, ensuring their health protection is vital for overall national development.

“Breast cancer and cervical cancer pose major health risks to women,” he said.

He also called for encouraging women to undergo regular check-ups, early diagnosis, and timely treatment.
