Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus has publicly refuted recent media reports claiming a dramatic rise in violent crime across the country. Drawing on official police data, he emphasized that crime trends have remained relatively stable over the past year, contradicting the sensational headlines that have caused public concern.

In a detailed Facebook post on his verified page, the Chief Adviser addressed growing fears sparked by several news outlets suggesting the country is facing an unprecedented surge in criminal activity. Yunus noted that these reports appear to be amplifying isolated incidents and exaggerating figures, thereby fueling unnecessary anxiety among citizens.

“After reviewing the official statistics from September 2024 through June 2025, there is no evidence of a significant increase in major violent crimes,” Yunus stated. He pointed out that several key crime categories, including homicides, armed robberies, and assaults, have either remained stable or experienced slight declines during this period.

While acknowledging that a few crime types have seen minor increases, he cautioned against interpreting these as indicators of a widespread crime wave. “These limited upticks do not represent a national trend but rather localized or specific issues being addressed by law enforcement,” he added.

To substantiate his claims, Yunus shared two comprehensive data sets sourced directly from police headquarters. The first detailed crime statistics over the past ten months, and the second provided a broader five-year overview, highlighting long-term trends rather than short-term fluctuations. Both data sets show an overall consistent or downward trajectory in violent crime rates.

The Chief Adviser further reassured the public that law enforcement agencies remain vigilant and proactive in maintaining public safety. “Our police forces are working tirelessly to ensure the security of our communities, and current data confirms they are succeeding in controlling crime effectively,” Yunus affirmed.

Muhammad Yunus urged citizens to continue practicing vigilance and cooperation with authorities but discouraged giving in to fear driven by misleading media narratives. “Community awareness and support are essential in combating crime, but panic benefits no one,” he stressed.
